A Comparison of Spectinomycin with Ceftriaxone as Treatment for Uncomplicated Gonorrhea

Objective: To compare the efficacy of spectinomycin with ceftriaxone as treatment for Uncomplicated Gonorrhea. Design Study: It was a cross-sectional survey. Place and Duration This study carried at Department Pharmacology DHQ Teaching Hospital kohat Khaleefa Gul Nawaz Bannu from March 2019 to march 2020. Patients Methods: For trial, 200 participants were enrolled. Two groups 100 patients each formed by randomly dividing patients. Injections (2 gm) (500 mg) administered intramuscularly Group A B, respectively. After 5 days, all underwent reexaminations, their clinical laboratory results noted reviewed. Results When spectinomycin, in (n = 100) indicated 95% full response, 3% partial 2% no reaction, but when given ceftriaxone, B 91% 6% response all. Furthermore, aetiology gonorrhoea infection is not statistically associated getting older. Conclusion: The cure rates are indistinguishable. However, may only be used cases resistance because it causes pain injection site, less effective pharyngeal gonorrhoea, contraindicated during pregnancy breast-feeding.
